Thad McCotter (R, MI) says we ask too much from the rich. They shouldn’t be part of “shared sacrifice”
He also misled the listeners when he spoke of revenue growth under Reagan. Revenues grew more quickly in the eight years preceding Reagan, and the eight years after Reagan. Revenue growth nearly doubled the Reagan rate during the Clinton years.
BTW: Jim Bohannon is the ultimate center-right DC-insider CW tool. He’s just awful. So when even “Jimbo” goes after the Republican, you’ve got to be thinking that we might be doing something right.

Speaking of hypocrisy … I saw this great comment by entendre on February 24th, 2011 at 8:37 am ( at http://news.firedoglake.com/2011/02/24/prank-koch-call-changing-the-battle-for-public-opinion-in-wisconsin/#comment-92945 ) regarding the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia:
“During the coverage of these Wisconsin protests, I have been most struck by DNC chair Tim Kaine’s support of public employee unions. As governor of Virginia, he refused to support collective bargaining for the public sector. He mirrored exactly the stance of Governor (now Senator) Warner. In fact, in 1993, a Democratic governor (Wilder) codified Virginia’s long-standing criminalization of collective bargaining for public employees.
So far no one has asked (at least not in a public setting) how Kaine can support rights for the citizens of Wisconsin that are illegal in Virginia.
Kaine is probably planning a run for the Senate, and if he wins, Virginia will have two Democratic union-busters in the Senate. If he loses, we will have a Democratic union-buster and a Republican union-buster (former governor Allen) in the Senate.
If anyone sees Kaine, please ask how he justifies collective bargaining in Wisconsin but prohibits it in Virginia.”

Wow. Smart questions from callers – and Jimbo really holding McCotter’s feet to the fire! Good radio. Wonder how this got past the censors of the Corporate Overloards.
