Blanche Lincoln non-committal on cloture for Senate health care bill

with 2 comments

Blanche Lincoln finds herself pressured from all sides. Arkansas isn’t particularly friendly to progressives; especially in an off-year election coming right after the country elected its first African-American President. While tea-baggers and Republicans scream and shout, progressives are squeezing the Senator from the other side, insisting that she support a health care bill containing a public option.

She’s got some tough choices ahead of her; for now, it looks like she’s keeping her options open.

  1. Does it even matter anymore to these Democrats if they are held accountable to voters and lose their seats? I mean, the medical industrial complex has a cushy, 6 or 7 figure job waiting if voters get fed up

  2. By now, you must realize that the American people do not care whether a Senator is republican, democrat or independent. We only care that the interests of the American people are served – and that common sense and prudent judgment prevail in all major decisions affecting our nation.

This bill fails to address the primary problems surrounding healthcare: a) tort law; and b) citizenship verification for health care services. That is where REAL REFORM needs to begin. Instead, this bill is a meandering 2000 page monstrosity that will bring us higher taxes, while resulting in increased insurance costs, and a still larger national debt. Why are we destroying a healthcare system that 80% of Americans are satisfied with? For the sake of the other 20%? Typical! Meanwhile, some in Congress speak only in terms of passing this bill for the sake of passage! Bragging rights! Score one for the team! Never mind what it will actually DO to our nation. Where’s the common sense and prudence, people? Get it RIGHT… not just passed. KILL THIS BILL.
