Specter missed the vote because he was attending his sister's funeral.

Thank you for this, Mike.

Last Friday night, I spoke with Congressman Joe Sestak again at a fundraiser in Wayne,PA held for Delaware County Court of Common Pleas Democrat judicial candidate, Nancy Rhoads Koons. I urged Joe to play up his position against Specter on this issue, especially because of his strong support for veterans' needs, in light of Specter's having missed the vote on this key amendment. Sestak's head reared back, exclaiming, "YES, absoloutely! And I have six sisters who've told me the same thing!"

30 GOP Senators voted against this amendment, including McCain. which is stunning, considering his own history. And Chambliss, that bastion of patriotism, recalling his despicable ads against Max Cleland. But who conveniently missed this Franken 'Jamie Leigh' amendment vote? PA Senator Arlen Specter, Sestak's primary opponent. Oopsie! Senator Byrd also missed this vote, but I believe he was still recovering from a fall he took at home?

I spoke quietly to Sestak about this, suggesting who else needs to hear about Specter's having missing this vote:
Veterans: they despise these KBR et al cowboys, their untouchable swagger and their princely pay rate, which is 3 or 4 times what US soldiers receive for the exact same assignments. (I heard about that fact from a friend's son whose tactical chopper flight team was replaced by a KBR unit, and those cowboys bragged about how much they were getting paid as they took over the unit's tasks.)

And Republican women: They can't all be glassy-eyed, Beck/Limbaugh/O'Reily toadies, can they?
