ACORN Part 2
Please see ACORN Part 1, but this question really puts the lie to the entire operation… I asked, “If ACORN drops all of its lawsuits, would you be willing to release every second of unedited footage?” Brietbart dodged, saying he’s released transcripts and audio. He wouldn’t say he’d release the video.
I wonder why they wouldn’t jump at the chance to climb out from under the expensive lawsuits. If all that was required was releasing these damning tapes without editing them, well… If all we want is the truth… Won’t it be found in its most pure state on the unedited films? And these poor souls are laboring under the cloud of litigation – some of it criminal… Why not expose ACORN and escape the lawsuits?
They must be very attached to their editing process.
What exactly IS it about ACORN that creates such chaos in the right?
I never heard about ACORN before the right wing took them on as the ‘enemy number one’ of the Right. I haven’t seen this much conservative angst about a non-profit group since they started beating up on Planned Parenthood – and THAT was over the abortion issue.
So, what gives?

what a joke- call a press conference to release heavily edited, questionably obtained video, then refuse questions, siting a pending lawsuit re illegal videotaping.

The fact that ACORN has begun mobilize massive numbers of and building REAL power for low-moderate income Americans and the fact that those Americans then take on the powers that be over predatory lending, unjust laws etc…scares the CRAP out of some people. Then they turn on the propaganda machine to whip up anyone who decides not to research or think for themselves. It comes down to building power for low income and minority people. Something that those who HAVE power have never stood for in this country…

They are an organization of and for the poor, with many African-Americans in staff and leadership positions.
