Y’know, I used to think it a myth — a very convenient myth — that most homophobes ‘n’ haters were ‘phobes specifically because they were closeted themselves, and turned their self-hatred outward.
Wouldn’t it be nice if it were true, I thought — because then there’d be some kinda perverse justice involved (the people who make life difficult for others themselves being in torment), plus some real hope for the future. Specifically, as progress is made toward eradicating homophobia, we’d have fewer self-loathing closet cases, which would further the extinction of both hate and haters — a positive feedback loop.
But y’know what?
As time goes by, and we see one after another after another of the worst haters unmasked as 3-dollar-bill queer themselves….
Plus there’s this simple realization: what kind of normal person — of whatever orientation or preference themselves — spends even one second, EVER, thinking about what other people are doing behind closed doors?
Here’s a simple clue — NO normal, healthy human being cares one whit what other people do for their jollies.
I don’t sit around envisioning people — gay, straight, bi, poly — getting their rocks off. It has zero meaning or impact on me, or my life, and it’s none of my damn business.
Only someone who’s feverishly fighting their own impulses would devote minute one — let alone hours, days, weeks, months of their lives — to thoughts and images of lithe, lissome bodies, wrapped in steamy, sweaty embraces, tongues, fingers, orifices…
Ahem.
See whutImean?
Happy healthy humans think about their own sex lives, and the sex lives of those near and dear (or those they wish were near and dear). But it wouldn’t even cross their happy minds to worry about what that hot guy across the street was doing… unless they really, really wanted him themselves.
So deal with it, ‘phobes.
You’re busted.
You are what you profess to hate, and you’re not fooling anyone — least of all yourselves.
Deal with it.

Wow, redirected to old hat…well I suppose I will weigh in regardless.

At this point is it really necessary to point out, it’s not that the left attacks the right for being outed as a gay man, or otherwise, but it smacks in the face of the “family values” argument the right-wing conservatives hold very close and dear to their guns, and hearts.

You know like Catholic priests raping young boys, while under the veil of deception. Kinda like that…lol.

to my knowledge a civilian having sex with a US military member breaks no law, even though the act may have criminal liability for the servicemember. It definitely could end his or her military career, whether or not any crime is committed or prosecuted.

Laura, remember how the Right went after Clinton? Just because he was a Dem? I do. Remember when they didn’t treat HIM as a human being? I do. Don’t get me wrong, he was a HUGE disappintment, especially to LGBT causes. But, where’s your outrage about that?

But this isn’t about Right or Left, Repubs or Dems. This is about someone rumored to be gay voting against gay causes. Treat him as a human being? If asking him to defend himself or explain isn’t treating him as human, what is? Why should he be allowed to dictate policy as to how the lives of others are managed and governed if he can’t himself be open and honest?
